Just spent and awesome 5 days in New York, I think it one of the places in the world that lives up to its reputation - exactly what you expect from this colourful vibrant city. Every time I go I love it more, I love the food! We rambled though little Italy, drank coffee in Greenwich Village and bought shoes in Macy’s - my idea of perfect.
We passed through Ground Zero and my heart sank to think of all of those people who lost their lives and families. I couldn’t imagine what it would have been like in New York at that time.
I spent most of my days writing songs with the brilliant Jeff Franzel, who used to be Frank Sinatra’s piano player and when you hear him play you realise why, he is amazing! I nicknamed him 12 Fingers Franzel - not sure if it will stick though. We wrote 3 songs together all for my new album. I need to share this story with you about Jeff – he approached the Vatican with an idea a few years ago. Not expecting much back, he was blown away when he received a poem that was written by Pope John Paul II and a note outlining his excitement about the project. So Jeff wrote the music to it and it has just been recorded by Josh Groban and Placido Domingo and is currently #1! How cool!
We caught up with musician friends from Sydney and we even had family fly in from Toronto to visit us for a couple of days, great nights catching up, lots of laughing and eating Pizza at 3am on the Upper west side. I wish I could have stayed longer this trip but I’ll be back again soon.
